Characteristic features:
Colour:

Dorsal surface of head and body slate-grey, grading to white below. Strong demarcation on head, weak on body. First dorsal fin with darker anterior margin, second dorsal fin with a posterior dark margin. Other fins with some dusky colouration.

Size:

Up to at least 128 cm TL.

Distribution:

Found throughout the tropical Indian and western central Pacific Oceans.

Habitat:

Coastal.

Biology:

Little is known about the biology of this species.

Similar species:

Glyphis gangeticus
Ganges shark

Glyphis gangeticus differs in having a second dorsal fin smaller than first dorsal fin (vs. second dorsal fin nearly as large as first dorsal fin) and snout short and bluntly rounded, when viewed from underneath (vs. snout moderately long and narrowly rounded).
