Yellowish grey, upper lip yellow, red blotch at pectoral-fin base.

Size:

Up to 60 cm TL.

Distribution:

Indo–West Pacific, in tropical waters.

Habitat:

Seagrass and coral reefs, from 5 to 30 m depth.

Biology:

Feeds primarily on crustaceans, fishes, and echinoderms.

Indonesian fisheries:

Caught with handline, traps and trawl.

Lethrinus reticulatus

Lethrinus reticulatus differs in having membrane between innermost rays of pelvic fins without melanophores, the rest of pelvic fins with melanophores (vs. innermost rays of pelvic fins densely populated with melanophores).
