Characteristic features:
  1. Body moderately elongate
  2. Belly flap prominent
  3. Dorsal spine tall
  4. Anterior parts of dorsal and anal fins raised
  5. Covered with many small dark spots
Colour:

Dark brown covered with many small dark brown to black spots, caudal fin plain and darker than anal and dorsal fins.

Size:

Up to 28 cm TL.

Distribution:

Western Pacific in tropical and subtropical waters.

Habitat:

Near offshore reefs, from 120 to 240 m depth.
