Aluterus monoceros

1. Body strongly compressed
2. Leathery without fleshy appendages
3. Snout and throat both convex
4. Caudal peduncle elongate
5. Dorsal spine very slender

Adults pale brownish, juveniles strongly patterned.

Up to 75 cm TL.

Circumglobal in tropical and subtropical waters.

Coral reefs and sandy flats, to 80 m depth.

Caught with bottom trawls.
