Blackpatch triggerfish
Characteristic features:
Colour:

Tan to brown above, pale below, bluish around mouth, a red line from above mouth to pectoral fin base, a black bar from eye to pectoral-fin base and a large roundish black blotch on lower side of body.

Size:

Up to 23 cm TL.

Distribution:

Indo–West Pacific in tropical waters.

Habitat:

Reef flats and lagoons, to 20 m depth.

Indonesian fisheries:

Caught by gillnets, traps and drive-in nets.

Rhinecanthus aculeatus differs in having 2 pairs of oblique pale bars near anal fin (vs. a large roundish black blotch on lower side of body).
