Characteristic features:
Colour:

Reddish orange with scattered small bluish spots, bluish streaks or lines near eye, 4 large black blotches below dorsal fin and 2 on caudal peduncle.

Size:

Up to 50 cm TL.

Distribution:

Indo–West Pacific in tropical waters.

Habitat:

Coral reefs, from 10 to 150 m depth.

Indonesian fisheries:

Caught with hook-and-line, traps, and spear.
