Characteristic features:
  1. Belly flap prominent with a movable bony tip
  2. Caudal peduncle deep
  3. Caudal fin with long dorsal filament
  4. Anterior parts of dorsal and anal fins raised in adult males
Colour:

Brownish with 2 dark horizontal stripes on sides.

Size:

Up to 12 cm.

Distribution:

Indo–West Pacific in tropical waters.

Habitat:

Weedy and sandy areas of coastal reefs, from 34 to 46 m depth.
